Be Prepared-do your advanced directives

These are documents where you may make your health decisions.  Some folks use the website "The Conversation", but if you're not comfortable talking with folks about your decisions, this is a great alternative.

If you haven't filled in the documents that will tell your family & friends what you want done if you become incapable of making your own decisions, I urge you to look at this website and get with it! Or "have the conversation". See my Blog about Five WIshes for an easy form you can fill out. In Arizona the Attorney General has a package of advanced directives which you can fill in, send to them and then have access from anywhere in the world.

A neighbor of mine was hit on his motorcycle and a family member had to suddenly begin making decisions for him.   My Mother didn't tell us what she wanted, and when she could no longer swallow, we had to guess whether she would want a feeding tube or not.

In addition, if you don't have a health care directive on file with a particular facility, then your wishes might not be carried through if you're in an accident and are taken there.

Thus I'm doing the AZ advanced directives so my desires are stored online digitally and are available anywhereWe all know we have a limited amount of time on this earth.  This site can help you communicate your desires to your doctor and your family: Check to see if your state has advanced directives, if not, consider using those from Five Wishes or MyDirectives

The American Bar Association  has a lot of mostly free forms. Look for on a page Health Decision Resources.
